Growing up listening to local sports talk radio with his father on a daily basis, Spencer has always had a passion for the industry.

 

In January 2013, Spencer decided to join the University of Akron's student radio station WZIP-FM in hopes of learning and gaining experience in the world of radio. It took months of training, but it was a wise decision, as he was given the opportunity to make his voice heard.

 

Through over a year of hosting, co-hosting and producing Sports Power Talk, providing weekly sports updates, covering Akron athletics and writing features for the station's website wzip.fm, Spencer realized that he wanted to pursue a career in the field.

 

Shortly after his graduation and departure from WZIP, Spencer was hired by CBS Radio as a sports anchor for 92.3 The Fan WKRK in Cleveland. He made his on-air debut in early September 2015 with his "20/20 sports" reports detailing the latest and up-to-date sports news, locally and nationally. 

 

Along with his sports anchoring duties, Spencer has participated in multiple segments for various shows, most frequently on The Fan's weekly night show: The Nick Wilson Experiment. In addition, he produced shows, screened calls and wrote for the station's website as well. In order to pursue other opportunities, Spencer left CBS Radio in late May 2016.
